Team Brayden - Part 2

We got our Team Brayden tee's in!

The front says "Team Brayden, Phillipians 4:13" and has the ACH logo on it:

The back says "TEAM BRAYDEN PRAYER WARRIORS" and has the verse printed on it:

Today they let me give Brayden his bottle...but he was seriously mad after having his lung treatment and being moved around and he refused to eat it:
Here is a pic of Brayden with his tee:
Overall today was a very good day for Brayden...he just no longer has an interest in taking his bottle. The nurse said that babies who have had PPHN normally take awhile to get used to the bottle. The good thing is that he is properly digesting all of his food and being able to take all of his feedings. Tomorrow he should be off all meds and off his nasal oxygen tube. His nurse practitioner predicted that he would be here about 5 more days...mainly our obstacle now is feedings.

Many of you have asked for an address where you can send things...We really, truly do not need anything and it is so very sweet of you to ask. However, if you would like to send Brayden an email (it goes through the hospital) you can do so here :
If you would like to make a donation to ACH in Brayden's honor (it would benefit the ACH Foundation, and the many families who need your support) you can find information on how to go about that here: http://www.archildrens.org/foundation/how_help/memorial_honor.asp
They will send Brayden a card letting him know that you have given in his honor.
We've received so many kind emails and we have them all printed for Brayden's baby book so that we can show him when he is older how many people (that both do and do not know him) his life touched and how many sent up prayers on his behalf. It is so, so special to us and we want him to be able to see and understand what a life changing time this has been...not just because of his illness but because of how many people - people that we don't even know - have cared enough about us to pray for his recovery and what a difference they have made in all of our lives.
Tonight I was thinking about a lot of the families that we sit in the waiting room with everyday. Some of them have babies who have been and continue to be much, much sicker than Brayden was. Some of them have already been here for 3, 4, 5+ months. Some sleep every night in the waiting room. Being a parent of a NICU baby is hard enough, but I can't imagine going through what some of them go through, and I ask you to remember all of the NICU parents in your prayers tonight.
Thank you for all you've done for us. We appreciate you so much!

I'm oh so glad you were FINALLY able to hold your baby boy and feed him!

That is great news. I remember the day we got to finally feed our twin baby girls their first bottle while they were in the NICU. It may take him a few days but he will get use to it. I am still praying. Hang in there a little longer, you will soon be holding your baby boy at home with no nurses watching every move you make.

I am so happy to hear that he is doing so well! I can't wait to read that he is going home! My baby boy was in the NICU for 17 LONG days but I thank God that it was only 17 days and not months like some of the other parents had to endure. It is so hard to be without your baby. I love reading updates on sweet Brayden and he is such a cutie pie! We will continue to pray for Brayden and the rest of your family!
Hugs and prayers,

Little Brayden's t-shirt is awesome! It's really great that you have so many people supporting you during this stressful time. It seems funny that big (relatively in the NICU) babies have a hard time eating. My family had a difficult time understanding the concept. They didn't know how to eat before they were born sick & it takes the typical newborn at least a few days to learn how to eat so of course it's not a one bottle process. It takes a few days but in no time Brayden will be sucking down bottles & growing into that team t-shirt! He's been thru so much in so little time, it's amazing. In no time the three of you will be at home! Thanks for continuing to keep us all updated.

Hey Jenna...felt I needed to leave you a comment! I've been reading your blog for awhile and should have commented months ago. I had a baby boy in September. I've been praying for your sweet Brayden.

My blog is private...but I'd love to add you if you send me your email address...katiehiggins1@hotmail.com (I know you have more important things to do right now!)

fyi....there are companies that will put your blog (comments to) into a book form. i'm sure you can search and find their names. this would be a great addition to the baby book.

i have lost count of the number of babies that i have prayed for while they were in the nicu or picu....it is an honor to pray for families, esp when your little ones are so ill.

I haven't checked your blog for a few days, and then I checked tonight and was overjoyed at what progress he's made! It was so neat to see the pictures of his eyes open, having his diaper changed, and being fed. So precious!! I will continue to pray for your family! Praise Him!

I am so glad to hear how well little Brayden is doing!! Your t-shirts turned out soo cute! Praying that the feedings will go well and you guys will be out of there in no time!

Amanda said...

The T-shirts are great!!! I love them! What a great testament of faith to the other parents and medical staff in the NICU.

Sorry Brayden was a difficult eater for you. Hopefully tomorrow will get better.

You're ability to look beyond your own recently turned upside down world and ask for prayer and help for other families is awe inspiring. Thanks for the link!

Hope you get a good night's sleep. Before you know it you and hubby will be responsible for all those round the clock every three hour feedings! :)

Jenna,
Stumbled along your blog...so glad I did, so I can also be a prayer warrior! I had to write for this posting because we had people praying for Team Gramkow (our last name). Our daughter Ellie was born at 28 wks gestation and we were in the NICU for 71 days. Sure a long and stressful time, but God is good and she's now home and 9 lbs.! So please know that we know similar things you're going through and are praying, praying, praying! NICU babies have a special place in my heart after Ellie's experience! http://elliegramkow.blogspot.com
Blessings,
Mandy

Bless you, Jenna, for knowing that you have already been richly blessed with everything Brayden needs, yet wanting to spread the blessings to others. Your parents raised a very compassionate, sweet, unselfish girl. You will be a wonderful mother. You are in continual prayers for Brayden to improve faster than ever, and for you to be on your way home soon. He's a very lucky little boy to have such terrific, loving parents. (Remind him of that when he's a teenager... :0)
