Gift Ideas

I STRUGGLE at coming up with good gift ideas. I need some ideas for mine and Chris' mom for Mother's Day.

Things I've thought about:
-Jewelry (already done - when B was sick)
- Flowers (will do)
- Pic's of B
- Brag Books
- Willow Tree figurine

I'd like to get them something really nice. Any ideas?

I made my mother a photo storybook for Mother's Day this year. I began with pictures of myself and my sister then added our daughters and finished the book with pictures of my grandchildren. I know she will be tickled to death with it. Photo's are special and well loved by all ... especially grandmothers!

I don't know if you saw this or not, but check out this necklace that was a featured giveaway on Lianna's blog. I think it's awesome...I would love to have one myself! http://bethouaknight.blogspot.com/2009/04/precious-pre-giveaway.html
Don't know if you would be able to get it by Mother's day but it would be well worth the wait.

Last year I went and got the most gorgeous hanging baskets of flowers for our moms--I went to Bogles. They both loved them, and it was something they enjoyed all summer. And it was really easy--no wrapping! :)

You could always give them a "night with Braden". You and Chris could go out to dinner! :)

You could to a stepping stone with his handprints and footprints, that they can place in their garden or yard. Just get one of the cheap cement stepping stones from Lowes or Home Depot, mix some cement and you can put the baby's hand and footprint in the cement. Add a few jewels/colored rock for decoration, write his name cute on it, and let it dry! A memory to last a lifetime, AND something you can repeat with any future children!

You want something FREE?? Go to hallmark.com (you'll have to set up an account) and you can make a photocard with pictures of Brayden on it. Hallmark will address and mail the card for you. You can even pick the date. Use this promotional code: CARD4MOM and the card and postage are free! She'll love it!

I think grandma's love anything homemade by their grankids. You should definitely do something out of his hand/foot prints. I also always buy the mothers a planter and make my own flower arrangement to set on the porch or wherever. It's always been a big hit. They look forward to seeing what flowers they get that year! You can look online for hand/foot print crafts too. There is all sorts of stuff online. If you do the hands a certain way, it will make a heart shape and you could stick his photo in the hole in the middle!

I did grandmother bibles last year since I was already pregnant then. I ordered them off Amazon, but I'm sure you could get them at Lifeway. It had different devotionals and stories that were aimed specifically at grandmothers as well as ways to pray for the grandchild. It was a really neat gift!

Spa gift certificate?

One of those clay-hand-print things of Brayden's hand?

I think your Mothers probably have everything material that they need. Here's something that would probably thrill them: Write a personal letter about the things you remember from your childhood. The little things your mother did to show you how much she loved and cared about you. Then you could finish the letter by telling and assuring her that you are going to follow her model and be the best-ever mother to Brayden just as you were taught!

I promise they will be thrilled! Get your hubby to write down his memories of his mother too!
