I just wanted to go to Target

I needed to go to Target today to get Brayden's prevacid. Its a compound prescription and Target it the only place here who will make it.

So we got up and got ready...and then something came up. In fact, things kept coming up that I had to deal with right away so we didn't get to Target by 10 like I had planned on.

Finally, around 1, I made it to Target. I parked. I walked to the backseat to take my son out of his carseat. Then I felt it.

I say felt because I couldn't see it, but I knew what it was. My son had exploded all over his carseat. I lifted him out to confirm what I already knew...he was covered from his head to his socks in poop.

I strapped him back in and headed home. Now there was a real dilemma. How do I get my poop covered son in the house and cleaned up without covering everything else in poop?!?

I ended up giving him a bath, clean clothes and then totally washing out his carseat, lysoling it and now it's out drying in the 96 degree hot sun!

And I still haven't made it to Target!!!!!!!! Ahhh, a day in the life!

You've got to love those days! Makes you want to crawl back into bed head first doesn't it! And why haven't they made a diaper yet that prevents blowouts?

Gotta Love Exploding diapers!! The whole covered in poop from head to toe happened to my little guy while I was feeding him(yes I was holding him). I haven't had to clean the carseat yet, but the swing has seen its share of diaper blowouts!

I thought those things only happened to me! Just have to love exploding diapers! The worst place it happened to me was church. We left our daughter in her carseat b/c she was content. About halfway through the service she giggly, and I decided to take her out ... only to find that she was completely covered in poop, as was her blanket and carseat ... right in the middle of the sermon. Couldn't it have happened during a song?

Do you find that Prevacid helps B's reflux? My daughter is 9-months old and has been on it since she was a week old.

You said it, "a day in the life...of a mom!" I have twins and try having two blowouts away from home at once. FUN FUN!!!!

Oh... I remember those days all too well. My son did that at about the same age. Luckily we were headed home when it happened. And luckily I had an amazing neighbor who helped clean it all up! I didn't even know where to start.
Luckily Target pharmacy is still open for a few more hours, you should have time to get out there today yet. Hope your evening settles down for you!

Hi, my friend Melanie shared your link with me!

I have been in this situation many times!!! With my older two! Haven't had it happen with my little one yet. Though, I am sure she is due anytime now!

I was able to fill Prevacid at Walgreens. They have a compound pharmacist usually on staff there. I just switched my daughter from the Prevacid though. It wasn't doing a thing for her GERD. We are now back on Zantac and that isn't helping much either.

Welcome to the joys of motherhood! Yesterday, I had been pooped on twice by 9:30AM and puked on by 11! It makes me feel like I've accomplished something but I think I'd rather accomplish some laundry or dishes over than poop patrol!! :) I was worried when I was reading your post, though....I was afraid someone had hit your car or something so a blowout was good news in that respect!!

Hi Jenna, I am a LONG time reader and a first time commenter...

But I just had to say,

at least you said felt and not...

smelt.

That would have just been the cherry on top!

Take care of yourself and beautiful family!

I remember those days. Had one of those or two with every child. It will get easier. Exploding diapers I think are the most frustrating. Hang in there dear.

HAHA I had to laugh out loud. Lauren is known for her blow outs....gosh they are messy! She had one coming home from Hilton Head in June. ALL OVER THE CAR and we still had 5 hours to drive.....but you just have to laugh :)

Oh I am so sorry to hear. That is awful...definitely a day in the life. I hope once the carseat is clean you guys make it to Target without any more incidences. :)

I have definitely had that happen before....more than once!! Once right after we had her dedicated at church...thank goodness it was right after the Pastor held her! I found a great product at Babies R Us called the "Kiddopotamus Piddle Pad."

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2265545

It has been a lifesaver! So much easier to clean. It goes in both stroller and car seat!

Just a thought! =)

Don't you love those days? Okay, so not so much... In a few years it will be throw up, but this too shall pass and you'll look back and say, "Remember when...."

Ahh... Good times! :)
