Buh-Buh-Buh-Bump It

It's always been a not so secret aspiration of mine to have big ole southern girl hair. You know what I mean. Hair that's been teased within an inch of it's life and stands so tall it defies gravity. That's what I want.

So my husband, who is so sweet to remember my not so secret hair goals in life, decides there is a magic cure for my ultra thin, fine hair that refuses to so much as hold a curl from a hot roller. And, out of his (and my) character, orders from an infomercial.

The product? Bump-It. Have you seen them? It's a plastic device you put under your hair and it instantly gives you the volume any Southerner would envy. He surprised me with it and I was so excited! Years of hair anguish could be resolved with one simple product!

But, alas, it was too good to be true. I'd post pictures but I looked too ridiculous to show you. I even tried the mini bump its and couldn't get those to work either.

So I guess it's back to hopelessly teasing my hair so that it can look good for 5 minutes and then fall out. But it was worth a shot.

I bought a set at Walmart for $10 a few days ago. Keep trying. Maybe you need to put more hair in it to get it to stay?

A friend of mine with really thin hair has one, and her hair looks great when she wears it. I agree...keep trying and maybe it will work for you!

I had the same problem! My hair is just too thin to make them work! I tried and tried, but they just weren't working for me! Oh well!

Im guessing that 90% of that infomercial stuff is just a con.

Hope you figure something out for it though. Its always nice to feel good about how you look.

Love and Prayers,

Tim

I bought the Bump It a couple months ago and it did not work for me either!! You could see it through my hair and it wouldn't stay in place! :(

I bought a set last month and couldn't get it to work either. I have really thick hair and it still didn't work.

I do have a set that I bought in the "AS SEEN ON TV" aisle. And actually I've really liked them. You really have to tease your hair and add hairspray to keep it in place. A headband really helps. Keep on trying. I never use the largest one though. Way too big.

I just bought some today. Im curious to try them now. I have heard mixed reviews about them. My fear is that it will fall out.

Jenna have you ever tried Big Sexy Hair? I got a bottle from my hair girl last visit and I really like it. I use it on my daughters hair and it helps her thin hair too!

I am asked everyday by my clients if the "Bump It" really works. I tried them first hand and it took more work than just teasing your hair. Try teasing your hair then setting it with some Velcro rollers and hit them with a hot blow dryer for just a few minutes. Go about the rest of your routine and before you leave the house take the rollers out. It gives you instant volume and if you lose the height just rub your fingers at your scalp and it comes right back! GOOD LUCK!!!

Girl, I am envious of the bump too...my hair stylist told me to tease each section FOURTEEN times before you comb over the "rat's nest" (as she calls it)...that nest ain't goin' NOWHERE! Oh, and when my son had a baby mullet, we used "The Finishing Touch" - like $10 at Walgreens...have to have that thing...
