Jeans. What are your faves?

First, thanks to everyone for you replies on my last post! I feel better now!

And if you haven't entered my YoBaby Giveaway, click here to do so!

So let's talk jeans. I LOVE jeans. I live in jeans. I really loved my jeans before I had B. Now they don't fit like they used to. I have several pairs that I used to adore...

TR's:

7's:

My 7 Dojo's still fit well. But my A pockets and my TR's don't. So what are you favorite jeans? I want to buy some new ones but I'd like them to have a little higher rise so that when I sit I don't feel like they are too low. Also, I'm hard to fit. I have LONG legs and thats why I buy more expensive jeans - they are longer.

Teeth.

B still doesn't have any teeth. He's been acting like he's getting them for months and still nothing!

When did your kids/neices/nephews/friends kids get teeth?!

He can gum the heck out of some peaches though.

Let's talk about this for a second...

A lot of you have signed up for the Jenna's Journey Community with the BlogFrog. So what is it and what can you do with it?
The community is a place where YOU all can go and talk about anything...a recent blog post, a question for me, share info on giveaways and just plain interact!
Through BlogFrog you can find other people whose blogs might interest you and follow them or join in on their discussions too.
BlogFrog is currently adding loads more features and fun stuff, so you'll have to check in often for new info. If you haven't visited in awhile, go check it out because they just launched their brand new site last week!
Now as for me...I think I might venture out into the darkness (its gross outside) and head to Sam's Club. Maybe. Maybe not. We'll have to see how motivated I get!

Mr. Sippy

Moms, moms to be, friends of moms...I've got a great giveaway coming soon!

Yesterday was a big day in our house. Mr. B was given his first ever sippy cup! I thickened some water (wow, that was actually hard...I'm used to thickening 6oz of liquid not 2! It took awhile to get it right because his cup wont leak - the holes are tiny and only open when he sucks) and handed him his cup when he woke up from his swing time nap...

He knew right what to do! (Don't those big blue eyes just melt your heart?!)

This is not formula!

He really enjoyed it. I only gave him 2 ounces of water and over the course of the day he drank it all. We might start giving him baby juice or diluted baby juice tonight. We'll have to see how it goes.
I also bought him some Puffs, and being the safety freak that I am, I made both Chris and I actually taste them to make sure he couldn't choke. They are supposed to dissolve right on your tongue but it took awhile so we decided we'll wait a bit before giving those to him.

My first Video...of course it's of B

So, I've never posted a video before, and I'm hoping this works right!

Last night B, Chris and I were sitting on the floor (B's figuring out how to crawl, he's almost there!) and B was sitting on my knee. He kept standing up and sitting down. Then he started saying what sounds like "Dadadadadadaddadadada" so we recorded it.

Of course, once we were recording he didn't really say it, but this morning it's all I hear! When I say "mama" back to him he laughs at me! Silly boy.

What's For Dinner?

Today is another lazy day. We went to church, ate lunch at Abuelos and then went grocery shopping (so much easier when Chris is there to help). B fell asleep in his jumperoo after having a bottle, some oatmeal and stage two banana, pear applesauce puree.

So tonight I'm making turkey burgers a little different. I'm going to use the same turkey (100% all lean white meat) but instead of tarragon I'm using thyme with parsley, a little bit of mayo to bind it, panko bread crumbs and I think I'll add some dijon.

So what are you up to today? What's for dinner?

Lazy Saturday

This morning we went to a funeral and after that we came home, undecided on what to do the rest of the day.

Sleep won for 2 of the 3 of us:

I stayed up researching convertible car seats (any advice?) and looking for snacks that are soy based for B (think Yogurt melts minus the lactose).

We ran to Starbucks and then hit up the mall for a short walk (B was very happy that I carried him the whole time instead of putting him in the stroller).

Now were back home watching Wipeout (love it) and relaxing. What a lazy day!

Fried Rice

This isn't my real post today but I have a question...

Do you have a good fried rice recipe? I really want to learn how to make it like they make it at Shoguns! If you've got one, leave it in my comments!

Thanks!!

Debate - TV in Kids Rooms

So this seems to be a hot topic out there....How do you feel about having a TV in your kid(s) room? Even if you don't have kids yet, you probably have an opinion.

When I was little I didn't have a tv in my room. I think I was maybe 10 or older when I got my parents 1970's tv that got, like 10 channels. Later I got a bigger tv, and when we moved here (I was 15) I got cable.

For me, it didn't hinder academics or anything like that. I honestly spent more time reading than watching tv anyway.

B doesn't have a tv now but when he's older he probably will. I personally don't have anything against it.

So, what's your take? Will you? Won't you? Do you? Don't you?

Thanks and a Winner

Thanks to all of you who left me info on Macs! I'm glad to hear that (for the most part) you think they are pretty user-friendly and easy to learn on. The hubs wants to learn CAD and well, you can't really CAD on a pc so we shall see....

So it's time for a winner to the giveaway!

The winner is....

Drumroll please.....

Drumroll.....(if you've seen Christmas Vacation, you totally got that)...

Mrs. Blondie!

Congrats! Email me at JennasJourneyBlog@yahoo.com with your address and I'll send it out to you soon!

Do you mac??

First, thanks to everyone who participated in "I Don't!" I'll be doing this again on Wednesday!
Also, I'll be picking a Giveaway winner later, so stay tuned!

So I have a question for all of you since I'm assuming you are on a computer right at this very moment...Do you mac? As in, do you have an Apple computer? We don't. We've got a HP and a Toshiba.

Over the last year Chris has been attempting to convince me to get a Mac. I haven't used one in years (granted, the one we used at work was only used for CADing and it was a dinosaur). We were at Best (Worst) Buy and I was checking out the Apple laptops and they actually seemed very user friendly.

So here are my ?'s:
- Do you have an Apple?
- If you DONT is there a reason why?
- If you DO why?
- Do you have both a regular computer and an Apple? Tell me what you think about how they work or why you find your Apple beneficial.

Thanks!

I Don't!!

I was thinking about something that could liven up this drab ol' Wednesday. And since I'm a big fan of lists, I thought how about a list we could all participate in. I'll make mine, then you make yours. Add yourself into the MckLinky and we'll compare notes!

So how about a list of "don'ts" - we've all got em'!

  • I don't watch Survivor. Or Big Brother. I've just never really gotten into them...but I do watch almost every other reality show known to man.

  • I don't do all of my housecleaning myself. I just don't have time...that and I really, really hate cleaning.

  • I don't drive the speed limit. I'm usually doing 5 over. But shhh, that one's a secret.

  • I don't answer my house phone if I don't know the number. Mainly because the last 5 times I've answered it it's been a scammer or a telemarketer. No and no.

  • I don't watch the 5pm news. Or the 10pm...and especially not the 6am. I perfer Fox News or CNN.

  • I don't take good pictures...as in I'm a bad photographer and I always look bad in pictures.

  • I don't listen to people who badmouth formula. Or c-sections. Or inductions. To each their own.

  • I don't like most carbonated beverages. Occasionally I'll drink one, but it's rare. I think I got "Sprite-d Out" when I was little.

  • I also don't drink coffee. ICK. But I sure do love the smell! Hot chocolate's my vice.

So want to make your own "I Don't" list? Simple! Post it on your blog, and link yourself up on my MckLinky!

BlogHop, Giveaway and other randomness.

Want my pork tenderloin recipe? Scroll down one post to my bloghop entry!

Didn't get a chance to enter my giveaway? You can do so here. A winner will be announce SOON!

Tomorrow I'm going to do something new. So stay tuned!

Whew, now that all of that's out of the way, let's talk about today. I'm referring to today as "Pajama Tuesday." This will hopefully not be a reoccurring theme, but I was feeling a little under the weather so BB and I have been lounging around today in our PJ's.
Here he is playing on the floor...there is NO WAY I'm posting a pic of me in sweats.

You gotta love when 100 degree weather suddenly switches to 70 degree weather...really good for the allergies!

Blog Hop - fave recipe

I have a lot of favorite recipes but I thought for the Blog Hop I'd pic something really super simple!

This is my favorite way to cook a pork loin or tenderloin. We have pork loins at least once a week!

Roasted Pork Loin:

Remove from package and pat dry with paper towel.
Sprinkle with cracked pepper.
Sprinkle all sides with Lawrys seasoning salt.
Take strips of Applewood Smoked Bacon and wrap them around the pork loin, totally covering it in a thin layer.

Roast at 400 degrees until the internal temp is 160. Let the meat rest for at least 10 mins so that the juices settle.

Start here with your content. Replace this paragraph, and everything down to AND INCLUDING the word: STOP. DO NOT REMOVE OR CHANGE THE CODE BEYOND THE WORD STOP BELOW! This has been the most requested theme, so I hope we have a record turnout. Please put up a post with your favorite recipe, or if you don't have the recipe, a photo of your favorite dish and a description. Here's a sample post I did for you: http://www.mcklinkyblog.com/2009/07/mcklinky-blog-hop-for-july-21-2009.html Also, be sure to submit your recipe here too: http://www.mcklinky.com/recipes.asp! I WILL CREATE A MckLinky RECIPE BOOK, AND MAKE IT AVAILABLE TO ALL BLOG HOPPERS FOR FREE! ...STOP

You know I have to talk about this.

Where do I even start?!
So Jon is going to design a line for Ed Hardy...for their kidswear. Uh-huh. If I could name one brand that shouldn't have a kidswear line, well it'd probably be Ed Hardy being as their designs are based on tattoos. I also don't really see how he's a designer, but whatever.
Supposedly, the kids are going to be models for this kids campaign. I kinda can't see Kate signing on for that, especially is Hailey is involved.

Speaking of...I guess Jon is officially dating Kate's tummy tuck doctors daughter. Who's like 10 years younger than him. Not that that's the problem.
All I can say is I feel really, really badly for those kids. Because of the popularity of their family, they will be able to know every little detail about what is going on now when they are older and actually understand it.
So what are your thoughts?

Quite possibly the best invention ever.

Skip down one post to enter my giveaway!

I'm sure you're expecting something super amazing here...but I'm talking about a bib. And if you don't have kids, you can probably still find this beneficial for your husband. j/k of course.

This is a Bumpkins bib. It's made out of some sort of plasticy vinyl stuff. And it is wonderful. Because no matter what you spill on it, it just wipes clean. No more ruined "pretty bibs."

This has been especially useful during green bean time. You know, because somebody thinks he's getting peaches/bananas/pears and then gets green beans instead and starts spitting them out of his mouth in protest...

A Meaningful Giveaway

I promised to do an infertility giveaway so here it is!

So, I thought what better giveaway than this?

This is a really awesome devotional, and one lucky winner will win it!

So, how do you enter?

I'm doing something special for this giveaway. I've met a LOT of women through blog land who are going through this journey. One of the first such women that I met is Lianna. Join my BlogFrog community (use the widget on my left sidebar) for 3 additional entries.

Good luck! A winner will be announced next week!

A tale of two fruits...

This was going to be called a tale of two foods but then I googled and google said that green beans are actually, botanically fruits...so here goes...

We started B on peaches. And, miraculously, he learned a new word almost immediately. The word? MORE. Because when Mommy asks "More?" his mouth unhinges for lack of a better word.

Exhibit A:

Smiles for peaches!
Ah yes. A very happy boy indeed.

Even happier, perhaps, when the cat is standing guard.

So we thought we'd press our luck and give green beans a shot tonight (fyi, we didn't start him on two new foods in the same day...the peaches were 2 days ago).
Someone thinks he's getting peaches...or possibly pears, which incidentally, he also loves.

Ummmm, pardon moi but these peaches have gone bad.

No! I've been tricked!

Somebody GO GET MY PEACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No more!

Don't tell B, but I've devised a plan of action...tomorrow we alternate! A bite of peaches...ohhhh yum, then sneak in the green beans! I don't want an orange baby!

Do you like it?

I just revamped my blog look...whadda ya think? yay or nay?

And no, this isn't my real blog entry for today but I am dying to know what you think about this!

You asked....I answer

So I've gotten a few questions from you all lately and I wanted to answer them!

But, I'm starting with one of my own for you...if you're on Twitter you may have noticed my account keeps saying "I've joined this group that gets me followers." First, I haven't joined any such group....anyone know how I can make it stop saying this?

Now back to you!

How much is B weighing these days?
- B weighed in at 15lb 14oz on Tues and 26.5". He's still in the 10-25 percentile for weight (where he's always been) and he jumped from the 25th to the 50th for height.

Where do you get your paci clips?
The ones you've seen on my blog I purchased at a store called "Too Chic" in Fayetteville. I haven't seen them anywhere else but if you google Swarovski Crystal Pacifier Clip there are several sites that have similar ones.

What did you think of the Bachelorette this week?
Welllll....good question. I had to ask Chris if we were watching prime time TV on channel 7 because I really couldn't believe what they were showing let alone talking about. Yikes. Let me just say thank goodness that Wes is gone, I think Jake should be the next Bachelor, and I can't believe she let Reid go. How's that for a summary?!

What's your take on the possibility of the MJ case turning into a murder trial?
I may be alone here but I think that while yes it's wrong of the doctors to have prescribed that medication, if someone is an addict they will find a way to get what they want no matter what. I do think the doctors should be punished - maybe by taking away their license but I don't personally consider them murderers though I'm sure a lot of people disagree with me on that.

That's it for now! Thanks for your questions!

Urgent Request

I know several of you have been following Avery's blog.

Sadly, Avery's mom and dad have decided to pull her off of life support.

Please pray for this sweet family. You can leave them a message here.

Shots - 6 month Dr visit

Today Brayden had his 6 month check up.

I had a lonnnng list of things to go over with the doctor. One question I had is about the cyst that the neonatologist at ACH had found on his brain. Remember that? I decided not to let them do the MRI because the risks were too high?

Well, Dr. H seemed fairly unconcerned. He said that B's development is right on track and he isn't showing signs of delay. I also asked if it could be hereditary...several years ago I had an MRI and and MRA done on my brain because of my migraines. He said that they absolutely can be genetic and seemed possibly more unconcerned after I said that.

He did say that I could get a referral from him to go to a neurologist about 30 min's away to have an extensive evaluation. At this point I think we are going to hold off.

Here's a pic of him playing earlier:

He did very well with his shots...he cried when they gave him the shot but once it was over and I gave him a big hug he was fine. Such a good boy!

Half a Year Old!

Guess who's having a birthday today?!

With his monthly sign:

He snatched it:

B's first cake! It says "Happy 6 Months Brayden!"

Mommy let me have some frosting! It's the best thing EVER!

I found GrandDaddys shoelaces very interesting:

So what's B-man up to?
- He's a rolling fool.
- He talks CONSTANTLY.
- He takes 5 bottles a day...about 150-170 mil's each - still 24 calories.
- He's almost ready to crawl. He swims. On land.
- He sits unsupported for several minutes - the longest was about 15 min's.
- He has continued to sleep through the night (for the last 3 months) UNTIL last night. I have no idea why but we were up almost all night.
- He loves the cats. He pets them and watches wherever they go.
- He is still in love with Mr. Fan.
- Monkeys? Oh yes. He still loves those too.

- When Grammy and GrandDaddy watched him the other night they said he said "Hi."
More to come I'm sure...
Happy (half) Birthday Brayden!!

Birthday Part 2 (the surprise!)

Last night we headed over to (where else?) Ruth's Chris Steakhouse where we seem to be on a first name basis with everyone that works there!

Me and Bubby:
Grammy and Bubs:

GrandDaddy tickling B:

Group Shot!

And the surprise?
Chris took me to see Legally Blonde: The Musical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you sense my excitement! This is 2 musicals in a month! We saw the first half of Wicked in Texas (we had to leave because at intermission it was already 11pm so I looked the rest up online!).
This is us last night after the musical because silly me forgot to take pics while we were there:

I felt very Elle Woods in my pink dress and sparkly Kate Spade shoes! I even attempted to get some Southern volume in my hair for good measure...but we can all see how that panned out.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

Happy Birthday To Me...Part 1

Scratch the username change on Twitter...apparently, there's another JennasJourney on there, so I've got to stay Jenna05. If you're following JennasJourney, it's not moi!

OK, so today's my bday...I'm a quarter of a century old. It's also my only sibling's birthday (Jeff). Happy bday big brother!

Last night my in-laws drove in from Tulsa just to take me out to dinner (they had to leave for Texas this am). They brought me a Rick's Bakery mini-cake! Just the perfect size for Chris and I:

Mom and Dad bought me a waffle maker - I've wanted one for YEARS! So I made waffles this am:
Chris and I headed to Rick's this morning to order B's 6 month cake (Jennfier, if you're reading this, they totally knew you...I said I wanted a cake like you do and they cut me off and said "for Brody?!")
Chris surprised me with a cake of my own!

And then we pulled into a Sonic for Happy Hour and to feed B his baba...only thing was, he decided he'd rather feed himself! Yesterday I was out with my BFF Amy and I think B saw her son Landon feed himself and he was jealous!

So tonight, we are going out to eat and then going somewhere special....I'll keep you in suspense until tomorrow!

I have a new account

I just edited my username...it's Jenna's Journey now!

Actually, and old account that I never bothered to learn how to use. I've had a twitter account since ... well, a couple of years ago I think. My name on there is Jenna05. Maybe I set it up in 05. Not sure.

Anyway, I don't know how to find you, so find me! And maybe someone can give me a crash course on twittering. Or tweeting. Whatever you call it.

Next on the agenda is figuring out how to link it to my blog.

Oh, and tomorrows a special day, so stay tuned.

What's Your Take? I'm finally bringing this up...

First, thanks to everyone who reassured me on B! I feel better now!

I've noticed that you all love sharing your opinion - just like me! We had a lively discussion over Jon and/or Kate +8 amongst other things.

So, what is your take on the Michael Jackson drama?

Personally, I'm no longer sure that he did the things that everyone says that he did. There are good points on both sides...for example, if your child had been abused would you take a payoff or not stop until the person was in jail? I know that I wouldn't rest until they were behind bars.

The funeral...well, again, people seem very divided. I think that he contributed a lot to music(personally, I love Thriller and Bad). I think a lot of people felt some sort of emotional tie to him. But I didn't understand why people who had never met him, or who hadn't seen him in 20 years were chosen as the speakers? When little Paris spoke, I cried. How sad. I think that her small speech gave us an insight into his life that he kept so guarded.

What are your thoughts? And while were at it, what was your fav MJ song?

I Can See Clearly Now...

I think this means that somebody likes his high chair:

The tray is cool too:
We finally broke out the high chair for B. He normally eats in his superseat, but he's getting to be so big and we thought it was time!
I've got a question...it seems like everyone is asking me if he's crawling and when I say no, I start to wonder by their tone if he should be crawling. Everytime I put him on his tummy he flips back over in 2 seconds flat, so I'm wondering if he plans on skipping crawling and going straight for walking (standing is his fav thing). Any ideas?

How To...

I thought I'd share a how-to for the rest of you who might be as bloggy/html code/changing things on your blog challenged as I am. It generally takes me F-O-R-E-V-E-R to figure stuff like this out, so if you all ready know how to do this, humor me!

So, I finally at long last figured out how to make a button that has an HTML code on for grabbing (it's on my right hand sidebar).

Go here, copy the admin code and then change the areas that they call out in red with your blog name, blog address and image location. EASY!

How do you resize it? Well, there are probably lots of ways but I just uploaded my button into Photobucket and resized it there.

I hope this helps someone out there who has spent as long as I have trying to figure this stuff out!

Metal Mouth...er, Plastic Mouth

So, when I was a teenager, I had braces for four long years. Loooooong years. Back then, the protocol was to wear a retainer for the next year and then you were done. Which I did...Most of the time anyway.

Flash forward to now. My teeth have moved and it's actually started to cause some problems with my top teeth hitting my bottom teeth. Being as I already don't look my age (at least that's what I've been told) the last thing I wanted to do was get a mouth full of braces.

The solution (this sounds like an infomercial)? Invisalign! I had looked into this a couple of years ago and am soooo glad that we waited. The cost is now half of what it had been! And the best thing? This is what my teeth look like with it on:

OK, no, that isn't my mouth but you get the idea. You honestly can't tell. Actually, this picture shows them more than they actually show up because they are so form fitted to your teeth. The worst thing about this was the molds. Oh, and another great thing? I only have to wear them for about 6 months!

Prayers for Kate

Melissa, a sweet blog follower has asked me to post a prayer request for Kate. Some of you may have already heard about Kate, a 5 year old little girl who was just diagnosed with a 6cm cancerous brain tumor through Angie Smith's blog.

Melissa has started a blog called Curls for Kate. She is asking for everyone to post pictures of yourselves with curls and a sign that says where you are praying from to show Kate and her family support.

Please check it out and please join me in praying for Kate.

Share your healthy recipe here...

I've been experimenting lately with healthy recipes. I actually normally cook pretty healthy but I've been doing some new things.

My latest fave? Turkey burgers. I know, eww. Actually, their pretty good! Here's how I made them last time:

1lb all white meat ground turkey breast
1 T chopped tarragon
1 1/2 T chopped parsley
Salt and pepper
1 T low fat mayo
1/4 cup panko bread crumbs

The mayo keeps the turkey from drying out and the panko keeps the patties from falling apart on the grill!

So share your healthy recipes here. If there are enough comments I'll go back and add a Mr. Linky (though I've never done that so I'll just hope it's easy!) so be sure to check back!

Oh, and don't forget to enter my giveaway - just 2 posts down!

Boom Boom Pow!

If you're having problems with my badge it's probably because I made it myself! Ha! Just right click and copy it to your desktop, then insert it on your sidebar as HTML and paste the link to my blog. That should make it to where when someone clicks on it, they are directed to me.

We spent this weekend out at our cabin. We took our two golden's with us and they swam in the lake:
That's my dad and their new housedog Miss Belle (she's a St Bernard).

Here are Mossy and Buster swimming - Mossy is at the top of the picture:

Here's BooBoo playing:

And watching fireworks that Daddy was shooting off:

B did great - we kept him up a little later than normal. I was afraid that the noise would scare him but it didn't phase him. He learned once he heard the first "boom" to look up and wait for the lights. It was really cute!

He had on an outfit my mom got him that was a American Flag drawn out of crayons and it said "These are my favorite colors." Super cute. He got warm though, so I just let him hang out in his diaper - something I never do!
I hope everyone had a great fourth! Thank you to all of those who serve in our military and their families!

Oh Yes! It's Another Giveaway!

First, I want to say thanks for nominating me (and voting for me) in the Blogger's Choice awards! Not sure what I'm talking about? Click the icon on my right sidebar that says "Blogger's Choice Awards."

Back to the giveaway. I purchased these fabulous earrings at (where else?) Forever 21. I really, really love them, and if I could wear them myself, I would! I'm allergic to everything but platinum...I know, bad problem to have, right?
