One More Day...

And we should be headed home!

Brayden seems pretty happy with the idea!

We had a little setback yesterday (we think he accidentally got the wrong formula, and it made him pretty sick) but now we are back on track. However, I'm sick again and so I only spent half of yesterday at the hospital and I haven't been there at all today. Of course I want to be with him but not at the risk of getting him or any of the other babies sick. I'm feeling a little better but I will probably go to the doctor once we get home just to make sure I'm okay.

Brayden is still draining his bottles and doing very well. Yesterday they took his pulseox off so all he has on him now are his three chest wires that measure his heart rate and respiration.

I am going to attempt to be useful and pack up our hotel room...we've been here over a month so you can just imagine what it looks like. Scary. I hope we can fit all of our stuff in the car! Thank you for continuing to pray for Brayden and all of the other babies!

I've been following your blog since Brayden's birth. I almost named my son Brayden... LOVE that name! I am so glad to hear you are going home! Woo-hoo! God is good. Have a wonderful journey home and enjoy each moment. Try to not let the past haunt your sleep and just move forward. Your son is beautiful and very very blessed.

I felt like we MOVED when we came home from the hospital. WE never thought we'd fit everything into our car and my mom's car. ha!
I'm soooooooo excited ya'll are coming home. It's just so much better being home.
And Brayden is eating better now than Harper was when we left - trust me he'll do fine. She can't get enough food now!
I'm so thankful ya'll are about to get out of the hospital!!! SUCH an answer to prayer!

I left you a comment a few weeks back, and have continued to check in and pray for Brayden. I have a Brayden too! My first born son had terrible reflux, that last for 15 months, but the good news it that he will outgrow it. Just used to bringing lots of extra burp cloths and clothes for him and a shirt for yourself. I hope you get the green light tomorrow and you can take your sweet boy home. Get some rest yourself and feel better soon ♥

Jenna, I took a few days off from reading your blog and oh boy, there's a lot I missed! Great stuff too! First of all, your boy looks so BIG! And healthy too! They say having a baby changes everything, but having a NICU baby changes it even more. Suddenly simple things you have always taken for granted like a baby drinking (and keeping down!!!) a bottle is worthy of a huge party. I've been there, I've SO been there!

After Cadence's GI surgery her day nurse thought she was sucking her thumb, but then she realized Cadence was trying to pull out the vent (she had been on hi flow and was not happy to have the vent back down her throat). The nurse told the Neo and the Neo said that if Cadence pulled it out on her own it was fine because they were going to take it out the next day anyways. Wouldn't you know it, she instantly went to work harder on freeing it out.

Smart little babies, they listen and understand more than we think :)

Then on day 84 of our NICU stay the Neo said we were in "overtime" and that Cadence just was going to start eating all her bottles when Cadence wanted to started eating all her bottles and that he'd discharge her with her feeding tube. They would train us how to blow air through the tube and listen with the stethescope once a day to make sure it was properly inserted in her tummy. I was thrilled with the idea of bringing her home, but a little scared at the idea of being responsible for the feeding tube. Apparently my daughter was, too. She didn't trust us. She took every single bottle after that little meeting with the Neo (which took place at her bedside so she heard every word) in it's entirety, drank it all within the 20 minute limit and kept them all down. 3 days later we took her home without the feeding tube just in time for Thanksgiving.

Praise God for the miracles in Brayden's life! NO TUBES!!! And going home soon! I'm crying tears of happiness for your family right now!

Hope you are feeling better soon.

And though it seems like this month has taken FOREVER...your journey is only beginning. YOu guys will enjoy Brayden so much. Oh but don't be surprised when he starts to change his schedule that the nurses had him on of eating every 3 hours. At least that's what our Morgan did.

I'm just so excited for you to be taking Brayden home tomorrow & that God has used you in such an uplifting way. May Brayden's testimony continue to shine in the darkenss. And I'll say a prayer for you to get better. Being sick is never a picnic, especially when you want to enjoy Brayden's first day home so much. Don't forget to give him a tour of his new home. I bet it will seem quiet compared to the NICU. Blessings to the whole family!!!

Praise God! I will never forget the day we finally got drive away from the hospital with our son in the car with us. After 6 weeks of going to see him and leaving him there, it was the most amazing feeling to put him in the car and take him away with us. I am praising God with you!

What wonderful news for your family! The day we have all waited and prayed for.

I have read the updates from Granddaddy Horton about all the prayers, encouragement and kindness that has been shown to the other families in NICU, and without a doubt, your families godly presence made a difference while being there.

Blessing to you and yours.
