Feeling better and a First

Last night we watched Christmas Vacation - my all time favorite movie - with B. I think, judging by his smile, that he was happy about it. Though he is really curious about who this "Santa" guy is...

B was put on a clear liquid diet for all of yesterday and part of today and has stopped throwing up, thankfully!

He was playing with his car here...

On his new "scooter"

He spotted the camera!

Another favorite new activity...pulling the magazines off of the coffee table.

He's doing better and we have an appt Tuesday with his doctor. One thing that I was a little put off by, was that when I called the pediatricians office, their voicemail directed me to call another number which turned out to be the hospital, and then they directed me to call Children's. My mom said that when I was a kid, there would always be a doctor from that office on call to help. How does your pediatrician office work? Maybe this is just the new normal?

That is a family favorite at our house too! My pediatrician goes in with three other drs. on the weekends and they trade off weekends. So we can always get in on Sat. and Sun. to see a dr. or get one to call us back and talk to us. It is really nice, even if it isn't your dr. they just fax all the info to your dr. on Monday and they follow up. Your little boy is precious.

I love our Pediatric Office. They are open 365 days a year. They are awesome and just rotate who is on call on the weekends at the office. I worked in Pediatric Pharma. Sales before staying at home so I knew all of the Pediatricians in town so that was great!

We go to a practice with 5 doctors, and they take turns with who gets weekend duty. They are actually open on Saturdays but not on Sundays, and they have a nurse on call too at all times. But, I know some of the smaller practices have joined together and just have one doc at the hospital at all times (rotation schedule) so they don't all have to be on call each weekend.

Our clinic has a number for Nurses on Call that you have to call after hours or on weekends. It is a number to the nurses at Children's and it usually takes a couple of hours for them to return the calls. It doesn't really bother me because they are very helpful and sweet when they call back. I do think it is weird though that it directs me to a hospital 3 hours away!

Looks like he is feeling better, I love that little smile for the camera. When Coco was born in 2000, our ped office referred us to Children's too.

At our pediatrician's office, they have Saturday morning hours for walk-in sick visits. For after-hours, some calls are patched through to the nurse-advice line at our local children's hospital. I have also recieved calls back from the pediatrician on-call. I know there is always someone on call, but I think they use the nurse advice line for calls that don't require a doctor or for when the on-call doc is tied up with another patient. Having to call a nurse advice line wouldn't bug me, but having to dial several different numbers to get advice would greatly annoy me.

Opps...I forgot to add that is my favorite all time Christmas movie ever! Last year I had all of my family over for a game/movie/dinner night. It was so much fun! I made up a quiz and it listed funny questions about the movie. The person with the most correct answers won some very funny prizes. We watched the movie together and checked all of our answers. I knew all of them all ready...know the movie by heart...hehe. Im sure you do too. You should try this one year. It makes for a fun night. I had the chance to meet him years ago while he was filming a movie here. He is very tall and very bright. Not as funny in real life...hehe. Blad B is feeling better now~!

I love the picture of him on the scooter with the big grin! He looks like he feels better.

I always get frustrated with being sick on the weekend - I usually just go to Wellquest (they're open Sat & Sun) instead of calling the pedi.

As far as I know, being transferred to Little Rock is the new norm during non-business hours. My mom also was surprised at how it works now. Our ped ALWAYS called my mom back personally all hours of the night for all 3 of us kids. Things just aren't the way they used to be! B looks so cute on his little car. I can't believe he's big enough to be riding on a car!
