Metal Mouth...er, Plastic Mouth

So, when I was a teenager, I had braces for four long years. Loooooong years. Back then, the protocol was to wear a retainer for the next year and then you were done. Which I did...Most of the time anyway.

Flash forward to now. My teeth have moved and it's actually started to cause some problems with my top teeth hitting my bottom teeth. Being as I already don't look my age (at least that's what I've been told) the last thing I wanted to do was get a mouth full of braces.

The solution (this sounds like an infomercial)? Invisalign! I had looked into this a couple of years ago and am soooo glad that we waited. The cost is now half of what it had been! And the best thing? This is what my teeth look like with it on:

OK, no, that isn't my mouth but you get the idea. You honestly can't tell. Actually, this picture shows them more than they actually show up because they are so form fitted to your teeth. The worst thing about this was the molds. Oh, and another great thing? I only have to wear them for about 6 months!

Good to know it's so quick and truly invisible. Did you get it fixed so it's not hurting anymore?

6 months isn't bad at all. I had braces growing up also, but I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to get them again. I think these are a wonderful alternative to the normal metal braces.

Oh yes, who wants to be a metal mouth again? I had mine for 5 looong girls! One of my best friends just got done with her invialign and it worked sooo good!!!

I wore them when I was in my early 20's, b/c my teeth had shifted but had to end up having braces for 6 months b/c they didn't get my teeth completely straight. They were awesome!

Girl. I was a 3.5 year-er on my braces too so I know exactly how looong you mean. Seriously long. There is one tooth on the bottom that has moved a smidge but (knock on wood!) I'm good to go.

And I have no idea how you are, but I'm going to say that you don't look your age, and that's coming from someone else who hears that quite a bit.

I would love to do that! I had braces when I was younger, didn't wear the retainer so my problem tooth moved back. However it would have happened regardless because I still had my wisdom teeth! They have now been removed but the damage was already done; the tooth sticks out farther than ever before! I would love to do invisalign if I could afford it!

I have a clear retainer and love it.

My husband had Invisalign and the results are amazing! It was so great to be able to take it out when needed.

I also got these, but they hurt me far worse than braces ever did. I bailed on them after a few days. Did you experience this? I feel bad to have wasted the money - but it was taking me 30 minutes to get them out for meals, etc.

Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the tip that the price has gone down. Guess I'll be checking with the orthodontist. I had braces too, years ago. My teeth have also shifted.

Have you seen the metal braces that go on the inside of your teeth so they dont show?

Hopefully the work better for you! I had them for a while and then still had to get regular braces after. Made me wish I would have just gotten braces to start. The ceramic ones look lots better then the regular braces! The other thing that was a struggle for me, is I am a snacker and a sipper. I love to munch and sip on drinks other than water so this was not too easy to do with those in. :) I am sure you will do great with them though. Just make sure they put the permanent retainers on the back of your teeth when you are done. They are kind of a pain to get used to but if they keep my teeth from moving, I am fine with it. :)

I just got Invisalign back in April and I was also impressed with how fast it works! So cool!
