Adventures in Couponing & Menu Planning

So yesterday was the big day. Okay maybe it wasn't such a big day. But it was the first day for me use coupons that were not for Similac or Bed Bath and Beyond.

In pure Jenna fashion, I picked the busiest time of the busiest day of the week to shop. That's how I roll.

I also dragged Chris and B with me for moral support. Well for that and just because I hate going places by myself.

Sooooo. Well, I guess saving anything is a good thing. I only saved $13.00. But as one of my twitter friends pointed out, that's a meal out to Chickfila. So I'm good with that now.

In all fairness, this was my first couponing adventure. I only had Sunday's ad to work with and some coupons I found online at coupons.com. Also, Walmart is really the only grocery store we have where I live - there are a couple of smaller stores but I'd have to make 5 trips to get everything I need and by the time you account for gas etc., I don't think it would be worth it for me.

My best coupon was probably the $3 off of Huggies (60 ct or more). You can find that one on Coupons.com if you need it!

Another good one was a $2 off Downy that was in the Sunday paper.

Another first in our house this week: MENU PLANNING. I am admittedly not the most organized person on the face of this planet. Not even close! My mom is probably reading this and laughing because I don't think she thinks the word "organized" is even in my vocabulary. Ha!

Anyway, I decided I was going to attempt this whole Menu Planning thing. It took me almost 2 hours to come up with a menu. How pathetic is that?! I have a lot of food aversions when I'm pregnant and Chris is...a little picky.

Here's what we are going to have this week (not in order):

Tacos with rice and beans
Cheddar Chicken (a new recipe)
Grilled pork loin, salad and rolls
Poppyseed Chicken and rolls
The PW's White Chicken Enchiladas (I've never made this before)

Did anyone else give couponing or menu planning a shot? How's it going for you?
