Blast from the Past...

Yay! I'm not a dork! It seems like a LOT of you read the BSC books too! And watched the movies. And had the BSC collectible game...ok, maybe I'm pushing it. Oh and a lot of you asked where I'm from in Cali - a small town (ok, not that small compared to here) called Pleasanton. It's in Northern CA.

You also reminded me of Sweet Valley High. LOVED those books too! I had actually forgotten about them until you mentioned them!

This walk down memory lane brought back some other memories of past favorite things like...

Pixie Stix - the grape ones.

My easy bake oven. I bought one for our churches Christmas store. I hope the little girl that gets it enjoys it as much as I enjoyed mine!

Mario Brothers for Nintendo. It was the original game I think...and it came with Duck Hunting with that bright orange gun. I'd get home before my brother did and the Nintendo was in his room, so naturally I'd let myself in and lock him out so that I could play it.

Skip It - I logged many a cardio hour on my trusty pink skip it.

Oregon Trail - Remember that? It was a computer game that we used to play in school.

Ked's.

Dunkaroo's. I miss the chocolate icing.

And of course, who could forget the Topsy Tail?

What things do you miss from your childhood?

I am 19 and oregon trail was the game to play in 5th/6th grade! Only a few school computers had the game loaded so it was always a fight as to who got to play!! Such an awesome game...recently I saw one of my friends playing it on facebook.

I remember all of those things! I think I read more the Sweet Valley Twins books than I did Sweet Valley High. I did have the game though! Loved Oregon trail in school! I don't think they make it quite as good anymore!

I had forgotten about the Topsy Tail! I loved that thing and it was sooo cool to do your hair like that! I guess the Bump It is the new Topsy Tail.

oh gosh i miss the chocolate icing dunkaroos too! I still find a few dunkaroos (graham cracker w/ vanilla icing and sprinkles I think) at the dollar store ever so often, but nothing compares to the chocolate icing!

If you have a Wii you can buy classic controllers and download the original Mario Bros from the Wii store. My husband and I play all the time!

Oh I'd have to agree with all of those and maybe add watching Saturday morning cartoons like Gummy Bears and Smurfs. Or what about Fraglerock (sp.?) Maybe my brothers and I were the only ones??? : )

I loved Oregon Trail...I was all about it in elementary school. Also - the baby sitters club, box car children, skip it's, Wishbone and Ghost Rider and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago and there was something called Commander Keen - LOVED that game on the computer! I also really loved those three piece outfits, a sweater, skirt and leggings that matched - anyone else remember those.

OMGosh you have brought back some serious memories. We must be right at the same age because I am with you on ALL of these...especially Oregon Trail! I totally thought that was only popular at my school!

I just read your previous blog and the BSC was my absolute favorite thing to read! In fact, they are nicely in numerical order setting on my daughter's shelf all ready to be read (again:)!

My favorite toy as a kid was the Popple, I would roll it up and throw it as a bowling ball down the hallway!

Oregon Trail was great, we loved to design headstones, morbid yes, but still we would laugh.

Pixie Stix are NOT the same as they were when we were kids. I had some during Halloween and they were nasty. I think we had straight up purple flavored sugar.

Have you seen the Pepsi Throwback is back again? Oh, to have things with ingredients you can pronounce in them again.

Totally loved Sweet Valley High! And I could do the Topsy Tail ponytail without the actual Topsy Tail. Not that I am bragging or anything! Haha!

I miss my Footsie.
Remember that thing?
It was a yellow plastic ring that you put over your ankle, it has a long green cord and a red plastic bell at the end. You would swing your foot and hop over it with the other foot. It was such fun and great exercise.

Where in the World is Carmen SanDeigo? Loved that! Oregon Trail was awesome. I read all the Sweet Valley High books as well as Sweet Valley University. My SkipIt got a lot of use. My mom and I used to compete to see who could get the most.

I didn't realize you were from Pleasanton. I live in the Concord/Walnut Creek area.

I use to love Kaboom on the old Atari

I loved Oregon Trail, too! We used to play it if we had indoor recess.

I forgot about dunkaroos! Those were so good!

I don't miss the "mall hair" and the heavily sprayed and teased bangs. I must admit that I used to watch Melrose Place and the first 90210, but I wouldn't touch the second with a ten foot pole. Don't forget about Saved by the Bell! I heart Zach 4ever! :-)

We bought our 7 yr old daughter an easy bake this year for Christmas...well "Santa" brought it to her.
